She begins her new role immediately reporting to GCI President and CEO Ron Duncan. Her position was created in the wake of last month's plane crash that took the life of Dana Tindall, who served as GCI's senior vice president, legal, regulatory and governmental affairs.
"Tina is a great asset to our company and has led our efforts to advocate for and shape common-sense federal telecommunications policy for many years," said Duncan. "She has been an integral part of our regulatory and legal team under Dana, and I am confident that Tina will be an effective leader in these areas for our company and our industry going forward."
Prior to joining GCI in 2003, she practiced law with the firm Drinker Biddle where she represented telecommunications companies including GCI before the FCC and state regulatory commissions.
"This opportunity allows me to work more closely with the talented and energetic GCI team to form communications policies that serve Alaska's consumers," said Pidgeon. "But this is also bittersweet without the presence of trusted mentors and friends recently lost. Their lessons and examples, however, continue to guide me."
Pidgeon, 41, earned her law degree from the University of Virginia and her bachelor's degree from the University of Notre Dame. She is relocating to Anchorage from Philadelphia with her husband and daughter.
