Anchorage Doctor Among First to Aid Crash Victims

ANCHORAGE, Alaska, Aug. 12 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Alaska telecommunications company General Communication, Inc. confirmed the identity of one of the "good Samaritans" who responded to the scene of the plane crash near Dillingham earlier this week.

Dr. Dani Bowman, a state-licensed physician who specializes in pediatrics intensive care and practices at Alaska Native Medical Center in Anchorage, was among the first to reach the accident site. Dr. Bowman is the wife of GCI President and CEO Ron Duncan. Bowman was at the GCI lodge at the time of the accident and was flown by her husband in his amphibious airplane to a nearby airstrip.  She was met by a helicopter that airlifted her and other rescue personnel to the accident site.

"As soon as Dani knew there were survivors, she wanted to get to the scene to provide medical attention," Duncan said.

Out of a respect for the victims, survivors, their families and the current investigation, Dr. Bowman will not be making any further statements or granting interviews at this time.
